Brazilian Butt lift:

A Brazilian butt lift is a specialized fat transfer procedure that augments the size and shape of the buttocks without implants. Excess fat is removed from the hips, abdomen, lower back, or thighs with liposuction, and a portion of this fat is then strategically injected into the buttocks.

Brazilian butt lift surgery can help overcome the effects of genetics by reshaping the buttocks and surrounding areas, such as the hips, lower back, and thighs. You might consider a Brazilian butt lift to:

  • Enhance the curves of your lower body
  • Reduce fat pockets on your hips, thighs or belly while adding fullness to the buttocks
  • Help clothing fit more attractively
  • Give a more youthful, aesthetically pleasing shape to flat buttocks
  • Enhance your overall proportions by improving balance between your upper and lower body

You are a good candidate for Brazilian butt lift if you:

  • Are unhappy with the current shape of your buttocks and have realistic expectations of results
  • Have lost natural volume and shape due to age or weight loss
  • Want to increase the size of your buttocks without implants
  • Have enough fat in surrounding areas to inject into the buttocks
  • Lead a healthy, active lifestyle
  • Do not have any existing medical conditions that could interfere with healing

Consultation

When consulting with potential cosmetic surgeon be prepared to:

  • Ask all questing you are concerned about
  • Provide previous medical history
  • Tell our surgeon if you have any allergy for medications
  • Our surgeon will evaluate your physical health and choose perfect type of treatment or surgery for you

Procedure

A Brazilian butt lift involves three basic steps:

  1. Liposuction is performed through small, inconspicuous incisions. First, diluted local anesthesia is administered to reduce bleeding and trauma. Then a thin hollow tube, or cannula, is inserted through the incisions to loosen excess fat using a controlled back and forth motion. The dislodged fat is then suctioned out of the body using a surgical vacuum or syringe attached to the cannula. In general, your surgeon may liposuction up to three times the amount of fat than what will actually be injected into the buttocks
  2. The fat, tissue and blood that were removed through liposuction are then processed. The syringes are then connected to a special cannula. Your surgeon will use this cannula to add the fat to the buttocks through small injections all over your behind.
  3. Surgery is typically performed using general anesthesia or intravenous sedation and local anesthesia. It is typical for a portion of the injected fat not to “take” in its new location—our plastic surgeon will take this into account and may initially inject a slightly greater amount of fat into the buttocks than is needed to ensure your final results most closely achieve your goals.

Risks

A Brazilian butt lift may carry fewer risks compared to other surgeries, such as silicone buttock implants. Still, as with any surgery, this procedure carries the risk of side effects — some very serious. These include:

  • Infection
  • Scarring
  • Pain
  • Bleeding
  • Hematoma
  • Lumps under the skin in the areas suctioned or injected
  • Loss of skin in the treated areas due to deep infection
  • Fat embolism in the heart or lungs, which can be deadly

Medications are administered for your comfort during the surgical procedure. The choices include intravenous sedation and general anesthesia. Your doctor will recommend the best choice for you.

Recovery

After your buttock enhancement procedure, dressings/bandages will be applied to the incisions. Small, thin tubes may be temporarily placed under the skin to drain any excess blood or fluid that may collect. You will be taken into a recovery area to be closely monitored and may be permitted to go home after a few hours.

You will be instructed to wear a support garment around-the-clock following your surgery. Your surgeon will tell you how long you need to wear the garment and if there are any other garments that you may have to wear during your recovery.

During this time, you will need to sleep on your stomach or side, and either lie this way or stand for all activity except using the toilet. When you are ready, your cosmetic surgeon will allow you to sit in a modified position, using a “donut” seat or placing a pillow under your thighs to avoid pressure on the buttocks. Normal sitting activity is typically allowed after 8 weeks or so.

Given you follow our plastic surgeon’s instructions, you should be able to resume light daily activities within 1 week after surgery and return to work within 10 to 14 days.

Results

Results are typically final within 6 months of surgery, after residual swelling has gone away and you are fully healed. By this time, your curvier buttocks and improved lower body proportions will be noticeable in how you look and in the way clothing fits.

Unlike traditional implant methods, a Brazilian butt lift Fat Transfer allows you to enjoy a naturally augmented butt without invasive surgery. The results of a Fat Transfer butt augmentation are more realistic and natural-looking than alternative methods. This treatment can also help reduce the sagging or shapelessness that can occur with age. If you are constantly bothered by the way clothes fit your backside or you have unnatural fat distribution after losing weight, a Brazilian butt lift can enhance the plumpness in your buttocks while removing fat from surrounding areas to improve your overall curvature.

Things to keep in mind:

  • You must not sit or lay on your buttocks at least for 8 weeks after surgery. Sitting directly on your buttocks could affect blood circulation in the area and transferred cells could die. For sitting use a special pillow (donut pillow, boppy pillow, original bbl pillow); even when you use it, try not siting for long periods of time. Avoid sleeping on your back too; this puts pressure on your buttocks.
  • Your body can absorb between 20% to 50% of the transferred fat; that’s why surgeons inject more fat that you really need.  If you lose more fat, the surgeon may inject more to compensate what you lost.
